SPRINGFIELD, NJ – The Atlantic Federal Credit Union (“The Atlantic”), a not-for-profit and Member-owned financial institution, awarded a total of $50,000 in grant funding to ten 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in Essex and Union counties of New Jersey through the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York (“FHLBNY”) Small Business Recovery Grant Program (”SBRG”).
The grant recipients include Bianca F.L.O.W.E.R.S. based in Plainfield, NJ; Boys & Girls Club of Union County based in Union, NJ; Golden Rule Community Outreach based in Vauxhall, NJ; Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges based in Orange, NJ; Joi’s Angels based in East Orange, NJ; Leaders for Life based in Newark, NJ; St. Joseph Social Service Center based in Elizabeth, NJ; the SHARE Alliance based in Springfield, NJ; Student Partner Alliance based in Summit, NJ; and United Way of Greater Union County based in Rahway, NJ. The grant funding will be used to support community programs consistent with the charitable mission of each recipient organization. “Thank you to the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York for the collaboration and opportunity to deploy recovery grants to local nonprofit organizations serving our communities,” said Anthony Mero, Chief Executive Officer of The Atlantic.
“SBRG funding enables our recipients to advance their missions and broaden their impact, strengthening communities across Essex and Union counties. These grants play a vital role in ensuring residents can access essential resources—such as food, clothing, and other necessities—that promote dignity and stability.
The SBRG was created to support the financial security of organizations that face economic challenges due to various factors such as inflation, supply-chain constraints, the rate environment, as well as rising operating costs. Under the SBRG, funding is made available to FHLBNY members to distribute to eligible organizations within the member’s service area.
